Ok, 

I finally got all fed up with continually hearing all
this hearsay about how the 1.8 16v head is the one to
get.  Lots of conjecture thrown around with no
substantiation.

Well, I decided to go right to the horses mouth and I
talked with Darrell Vittone@Techtonics today.

Wanna know what he said?  If you aren't going to port
either head, he prefers and recommends using the 2.0
16v head!!  Says it has better exhaust flow than the
1.8 16v head and that's what matters.

When I directly asked him about the rumors that the
1.8 16v head makes 10-12 hp over the 2.0 16v head, he
told me that he'd never seen that on the dyno.

He also said that both heads make about the same power
and torque, but if he had to choose between the two,
he'd pick the 2.0 16v one.

I also asked him about the 16v camset that they're
currently selling.  It's the same setup that VW used
in their A3 2.0 16v 150hp motors that were released in
Europe and we never got.  I'm unsure whether TT copied
the grind, or if they're importing the cams from VW in
Europe directly.

So there you have it.
