All,
  The GTI gets to stay.
I recently purchased an audi 5KCSQ from a guy in chicago (I'm in
michigan). He told me the car had been in a minor accident and that the
fender/door
area had been dented. The car pulled to the right a little, but he assured me
that it
it aligned and that the shop he had the last alignment done at had screwd up.
He
assured me that the A/C was in good working condition but that he'd removed
the
fuse because the blower motor was stuck on high (a $75 repair). He assured me
he'd had the hydraulics checked out and that they were OK. He was selling the
car
because his wife couldn't drive a manual and so he'd bought a 200 automatic.
I'd
taken the train to chicago, and was tired, and didn't want to not buy the car
and have
to get back on the train to get home, so I just bought it in spite of my
concerns. We
signed a sales agreement saying 'no claims of condition or warranty, etc, etc,
etc'.
On the way home, I plugged in the fuse for the HVAC system and the A/C
compressor did not work. It was siezed up.
Two days later the clutch master cyl. started giving me problems.
The next day the brake warning light came on (symptom of the pressure
accumulator -> $270 part)
Yesterday I saw that he'd posted his brand new 200 for sale online...uh
oh.
When I went to have the car aligned today, it turns out the frame is
bent and it won't align. I can ignore the mechanical stuff, because I expected
to be
throwing $1500 into getting the car running just right, but a frame alignment
is a
different story.

Now, I have saved emails saying that everything is in working order,
specifically that the car aligns well and that the A/C is perfectly functional.
 I have my
wife as a witness to him telling me the car aligns fine and that the A/C works
and
that he'd had all the hydraulic stuff checked out....but I signed a sales
agreement.

Anyone know if I have any legal options?

  -Patrick
