When you sign an agreement that says "THE SELLER MAKES NO CLAIMS AS TO THE CONDITION OF THIS VEHICLE AND IT IS SOLD 'AS IS'" you're screwed. Anything verbal has pretty much no bearing once you sign that contract. The seller was smart. A dick, but smart.
