As for the clutch cable, I believe when converting from the self adjustable
you'll need 2 big ass washers and a rubber bushing that go up against the
firewall and it doesn't hurt to get the big ass bushing that goes on the
tranny lever. Thats all you'll need though. The kit from Adirondack comes
with everything you'd need.
About the brakes. I don't know. I have a Motiv Power Bleeder. Its okay
but it doesn't work like its supposed to. I usually put it on, pump it up,
then have someone pump the brake pedal when I have the bleeder screw open.
With the pressure on the cap it won't suck air back in so they pump and pump
and pump and it comes out firm and bubble free. But I don't think that is
how it is supposed to be.

Subject: [A2-16v] Clutch cable question + brakes

More questions...
I was going to replace the clutch cable, and heard from several people to
use an older non self-adjusting type cable. This sounds good as it is
cheaper than the other type, and i dont mind adjusting it periodicaly.
Is it a good idea to use this cable? Also are there anyother parts i might
need to put in this older cable (i see there is a clutch cable guide, and
retainer listed with the cable itself)
Also my brakes always feel spongy. I've replaced all the pads + rotors
recently, and bled the brakes. But the pedal is still spongy. Could this be
a master cylinder problem?
I was thinking of getting a new one, and bleeding the brakes with one of
the
power bleeder type products.
Any ideas?
Thanks
-Denis
