All,
I used to be in the car stereo business and I think
that the Bazookas are a good option. They will make
up for the weakness of the other 4 (small) speakers.
Blaupunkt does make a good speaker but basically it is
a competent and fairly rugged speaker. Great they are
not but if you want something better then stock they
will certainly suffice. The Infinity speakers are
certainly better but the reality is that a 4x6 in the
rear will give you virtually no bass; likewise a 3.5"
speaker in the dash. You can buy the door speaker
grills (if they are still available) for something
like $40-50 but they will only take a 5" speaker.
Everyone has an opinion on what works for them.
Personally I went for the 6x9's in the rear deck
because I couldn't afford the loss of trunk space with
the Bazooka's. I put in Canon style plug to
disconnect the rear deck. In the front I squeezed a
pair of Boston Acoustic's pro 6.4 woofers and flush
tweeters in the front of the doors (they were tight
and I had to slightly trim the window winders and
lower dash pockets). They look great. I found that
the highs were located too low so I put some
additional generic tweeters in the dash location and
that really improves the sound stage.
I have a Sony high powered (HA!) deck recessed in
the dash. I'd like a 40x4 amp and a CD changer but
there really isn't an acceptable mounting location. I
wouldn't put them under the seat because occasionally
water collects there so I'll just have to be happy
with it as is.
   Enjoy the ride.
