Your GLI shouldnt have digifant on it unless someone switched over to it. It
should be CIS-E or CIS motronic.
Digifant II came on the later model 8v cars ('88-92 not too sure on starting
date). Its pretty much a fully electronic injection system that uses
electronic injectors instead of simple squirters like on the CIS cars.
There was another version called Digifant I used on the corrado's that can
handle boost.
There was a california version of Digifant II called Digifant I, however it
is not the same as the system used in the corrado's. It is almost exactly
like digifant II except it supports error codes and things like that. Gets
kind of confusing due to the same name as the corrado injection.
Alot of people claim not to like the system, but most of this is just
because of things they heard from other poeple. Most people just pass on bad
information about it, and have no real experiance with it. It really isnt a
bad system at all, just gets a bad reputation because the system wasnt as
easily tuned when it first came out compared to the CIS based systems.
