Denis,
So you wanna convert to 10.1" brakes?
I performed the upgrade on my old 89 Jetta GTX 1.8l 16V.
I picked up the spindle and carrier from a 16V Passat for $125CDN ($70US)
from a local VW shop.

You're going to need the spindle and caliper, as well as disks and pads for
the basic job.
But I am willing to bet that when you actually get there you will notice
that other parts need to be changed too. It may be a good idea to examine
the rubber boots on the steering rack, tie-rod ends and ball joints. Take a
look at your CV joints and control arm bushings while you're at it.
If you have any suspicion on tie-rod ends or ball joints just change them
all with OEM parts.

I had some difficulty getting the tie-rod end from separating from the
spindle, my mechanic recommended actually beating on the spindle with a
hammer near the tie-rod end, and it worked.

After the job is complete you will more than likely need an alignment.

I know some guys who really like the 9.4" brake setup because it has less
rotational mass and with ATE disks and Ferodo pads they setup does really
well in the auto-x.
I really noticed a difference when upgrading from 9.4" to 10.1 and I
couldn't believe the amount of stopping power I had under my feet.
I've never experienced the 11" power, but I do know that some companies
actually make a caliper carrier that can be mounted on the 10.1" setup, and
its not too expensive either.

Hope that helps,
Mark.
