Wow! I had no idea that I'd get that many responses. Forgot to mention, I've changed the valve cover gasket twice, also changed the oil pan gasket once, and even the right hand flange seal on the tranny. Also, my car only has 103,000 miles. Apparently, oil burning is a part of A2 life. The reason I asked was to see if it was even worth doing anything about. I'm tired of throwing money into my beloved GLI. Between this, the whole exhaust situation (see other recent post), and a $1k repair bill to fix a broken tranny support bracket and a laundry list of other things in December, I'm really getting soured on the whole VW ownership experience. :/ Laters, Brian -- 1989 GLI Wolfsburg Ed.
