Every 1 pound of rotational mass is equal to 25 pounds dead weight. Remember this when considering bigger brakes and/or CV axles. If 10.1" and 11" brakes have the same size pads then the 11" is just more weight you don't want.
Has anyone tried running regular A2 axles instead of the GTI/GLI ones. I don't know if these are interchangeable. On Honda '88-'91 Civics the length and transmission end are the same in the HF and the SI axles. The only difference in the hubs is the spline count. The SI has a bigger shaft and OBJ to handle the extra power. But odds are if you are concerned about weight you don't need the axle to last 100,000 miles.
