Every 1 pound of rotational mass is equal to 25 pounds dead weight. Remember
this when considering bigger brakes and/or CV axles. If 10.1" and 11" brakes
have the same size pads then the 11" is just more weight you don't want.

Has anyone tried running regular A2 axles instead of the GTI/GLI ones. I
don't know if these are interchangeable. On Honda '88-'91 Civics the length
and transmission end are the same in the HF and the SI axles. The only
difference in the hubs is the spline count. The SI has a bigger shaft and
OBJ to handle the extra power. But odds are if you are concerned about
weight you don't need the axle to last 100,000 miles. There are some
disadvantages from doing this.
