well i just came back from checking this car out it a 91 16v 87k miles
exterior-
red paint is better than expected, no faded paint just some expected minot
scratches the front bumper needs to be painted and its middint passenger
side front fender flare. also needs new drivers side door handle
interior-
needs headliner, has power windows and mirrors also has GLI (power seats)
although they arent connected, the interior lights dont work (gauge cluster,
heater controls buttons) nothing lights up any ideas why??????
suspension
tear drop wheels in good conditon, eibach lowering springs not sure what
shocks
motor
throtle responce seemed kinda slow around 2-3 grand (dont kn ow if this was
because the car was cold i just remeber my old GTI reving alot faster)
motor didnt sound to bad altough from under the hood I herd some odd exaust
sound (like a leak or something) when reving.
also looked under the car and saw what looked like coolant pudle on the
ground
Test drive
well i could tell by the amount of rust on the brake rotors that the car was
sitting for a while.
as i backed out of the drive way and gave it some gas the car mad a horrible
noise what sounded like some very loud belts. it also felt like it was
dragging (at first i though it was a tranny prob) but as i drove off the
noise decreased. needs a new clutch. the tranny seems fine no grinding with
quick (purposely force full shifts) it sure as hell doesnt feel as quick as
my old 91 GTI (but that maybe due to slipping clutch)
the only thing really worring me abou the car is that noise it made, although
after going asround the block a few times is was gone (so was it maybe just
some tired old belts if so why didnt it make any noise when i reved the car
when it was parked?
the guy is also gona throw in some stereo equitment he is asking $2000
what do u guys think>? the car will be a beater/dailydriver
