My '88 GTI 16V had 96K on it when I bought it. I ran it out to about 130K in 2 years, then I sold it and bought my '91 Jetta with 130K on the clock. That has since been sold, and the '88 GLI I bought in the interim had 149K on it when I picked it up. It's currently a hair shy of 190K, and still runs like a champ.
