Sounds like it could be a bad fuel transfer pump. Mark Reda.

I have to give it gas, and even then it takes 4-5 seconds. If I try to drive the car without letting it sit for 5-10 seconds, it sputters and tries to die, but never does. Seems to start a little better if I prime the fuel pump a few times. > > Idle misfire at all engine/ambient temperatures. Feels like it's missing on 1 cylinder. It happens after I've slowed back down to stop-and-go traffic speeds, and only when I accelerate in first and second gear. > > Recent new parts(within the last year or so): > > Plug wires > Distributor > Cap > Rotor > Ignition Coil > Accumulator > Fuel filter > Injector o-rings > Vacuum lines > 02 Sensor > > The DPR is working and set properly, I recently cleaned and added grounds, and the spark plugs are about a month old. The hard start/misfire was something I just dealt with, but the hesitation and sputtering(which just started happening) pushed me to the point where I need to do something. Thoughts/experiences appreciated. > > -Dave > '88 Jetta GLI 16V (Mine) > '88 Jetta GLI 16V (Hers) > '81 Scirocco S > _______________________________________________ > a2-16v-list mailing list > [email protected] > http://mail.a2-16v.com/mailman/listinfo/a2-16v-list > For list archives, see listinfo link above. >
