The thinking behind the VR6 strut bearing conversion is that the VR6 is ~250lbs
heavier up front than a G60 which is essentially a MK2. Because the VR6 strut
bearings were designed to handle the stresses of a heavier car, in theory
they'll last longer in the light weight Mk2.

I've exchanged strut assemblies, brakes, and a-arms between my MK2 Golf and my
g60 corrado. From my experience--Aside from the size of the calipers and
rotors, they are identical. Even the strut tower brace would transfer over if
it weren't for the fact that the throttlebody on the G60 is taller than the
Mk2. The G60 strut brace has a bend in it to detour around the intake
throttlebody.

My MK2 sports the larger 11" brake rotors, g60 brake calipers, and g60 hub
carriers. They are a direct bolt on to the OEM balljoints, sway bars, a-arms,
and strut assemblies of the Golf. And it even retains the Mk2 4x100 bolt
pattern and wheel offset.
