I looked at an old KR 16V block we brought back from England with us years ago
and the only place I saw that would let you get oil into the pump itself is if
you removed the oil filter assembly and poured some down the hole coming up
from the pump. If assembly lube is as thick as STP is and you have some in the
pump, you might not have to worry about it. Besides, will enough oil in the
sump it will start sucking it in very quickly, just don't over do the cranking
bit at first.

Do I need to fill anywhere with
oil prior to cranking? I didn't fill the pump from the top but I did
dump some assembly lube in the gears. Also I didn't fill up the oil
filter because I felt I may need to remove it at some point... and I
have had to remove it a couple times already :) I usually don't
prefill the oil filter anymore but I used to do this all the time.
