I have that same style ball joint tool in the 5 piece kit I borrowed from
advance.  I didn't even realize what it was for :)

I'm replacing with stock bushings.  I'll get the axle off the car then see
if I can figure out a good way to remove the bushings.  I was thinking of
using my engine lift to support the axle if I can fit in the 20 ton press
to get the bushings out, cut then out with a hacksaw, or press them out
using bolts, nuts, washers, wood, and other misc metal pieces I have around
the house.
