After swapping the cap/rotor, plugs, plug wires, and stil having a misfire
I finally plugged the laptop into the megasquirt. I should have done that
weeks ago. Found the intake air temp was -40 and didn't budge. A trace
was corroded completely the circuit board in the engine compartment (not
the main efi unit which is in the car) that sends 5v to the intake air temp
sensor. I patched the circuit board and regained the proper intake air
temp reading and no more misfire. The efi was making the car run nearly
40% richer with the -40 degrees air temp.

Rock Auto refunded the cap/rotor cost and also provided free shipping on
the bosch cap/rotor I ordered to replace them. Hope it wasn't my
distributor with too much slack in the shaft that was the cause of the
rotor contacting the cap.
