To the person walking in the passage it wouldn't look or feel any
different then a normal passage. You would simply turn and go into the
passageway. The magic would do all the work of orienting and moving the
floor into the vertical.
Another way to think of it would be that to the person walking through
the hallways it would appear to be a very long and spread out building
on one floor while in fact it was the vertical tower connected by
vertical passages.

to step at a 90 degree angle (like place your foot up on the wall to
re-orient yourself, and have a interesting moment when you are oriented
in two directions at once)? Or would you just turn left and look through
the door and see the floor continue unbroken but when you step through
you're oriented so that up is sideways?
This whole blasted tower is just so hard to get a mental picture of.
