So, first some details of my hardware and general setup:
Pentium 1, 133mhz
16 megs of RAM
Single IDE hard drive
Running Slackware 8.1
This starting happening right from installation, ie it wasn't anything I =
did. It also used to happen with Slackware 8.0 (and no, I did not =
upgrade but installed 8.1 fresh)
I've found out a bit more about the problem; all the errors come about =
after going multiuser (during bootup), and go something like this:
rc.M: line 18: 34 segmentation fault (forgot what caused this one)
rc.M: line 87: 49 segmentation fault (related to inetd)
rc.M: line 70: 54 segmentation fault (related to chmod 755 dev/null)
rc.M: line 71: 55 segmentation fault (related to chmod 1777 /var/tmp)
Also, I'd get an error saying 'Inconsistency detected by ld.so ... bad =
dynamic tag ... something :)' and this was related to sysklogd
Sorry I couldn't put the EXACT error messages but I couldn't figure out =
how to (without copying it out word for word). I tried dmesg but this =
section of the bootup was not recorded by dmesg.
One interesting this I've found: these errors only seem to come up =
during cold bootups (ie from power off); when rebooting normally they do =
not come up (I'm not 100% sure about this, but it seems to be the =
tendency)

So what can you guys suggest?
Thanks,
John C.
