Hat off Keith, you are gathering people around and keep the movement; have you checked on www.linuxdocs.org?

Thanks. Yes, I have checked it out, but we'd rather have a single short(ish) document to distribute.

Have you consider going first in education? I mean schools, coleege and University. Go and setup there some networks, build for them some webservers and forums using Apache, PHP and whatever you will need on Linux to keep them moving. Do not expect computer companies to install Linux, as long there is no law to force them to give the computer functional (with a valid, LEGAL, OS installed). And you know what I mean.

Well, that's easier said then done. Firstly, I doubt many of Malta's primary and secondary schools even have a web server, let alone migrate to Linux. As for JC/UNI/HIGHER they're under the gov.mt, which has gone to bed with Microsoft, so no go :S So, I do think it would be a good idea, but I have no idea how to get around it.

As for computer companies bit, well, with the doc I'm writing I'm targeting home users, basic home users who won't even notice a difference between WIN and LIN. Maybe once that's done it can be stepped up to create a version for more advanced users. I do agree that many companies, especially Maltese, have an ingrained attitude against change, which will be hard to break. This is especially true for companies using pirated versions of Microsoft products.

Hmmm.... I wonder if we could make a pact with the devil... why don't we lead redmond to these illegal companies.. then they'll have to change! Muhhahahahhaa (evil laugh).

Anyway guys, we're having a committee meeting tomorrow (and I'm guessing, it's gonna be hectic). I'll tell you what comes out of it.

Keith
