Hallo again,
Another onvol problem I have is with the cable
modem. When I power up with the Ethernet cable from
the modem plugged in, my computer hostname is changed
to c213-108. I think this is an onvol number, maybe
the cable modem hostname.
How can a remote device corrupt my hostname??? I
don't think I have a very secure system! And my system
doesn't work properly with the corrupted name, nor
when I manually change it back. To get things OK
again, I have to log off and log back on. Not switch
on and off, as then the hostname is corrupted again.
Any tips on making my system more secure are well
received.
