Hi Jonathan, Well you see it seems that when using kvm switches with windows there are signals that are sent back and forth between the monitor, and the pc. Somehow Linux distros are not geared for this. When using Envy NG the pc will see the monitor without a kvm switch. Now I'm playing around with MacPuppy. This distro has that bar at the bottom not unlike Mac OSX, and is so easy to setup. For instance if you know your monitor's specs youre in business. Mine is a Daewoo 907DF, Horizontal Frequency is 30 - 95Khz, Max Resolution is 1600 x 1200 @75Hz. Entering that info, and youre laughing! I believe something similar can be done using the terminal window in Ubuntu and deritives, but then it gets a bit complicated for a newbie like me. Those Puppy distros are amazing, you just startup from a live cd, and it loads using the PC's RAM which in my case is 1Gb. All you have to set is your internet connection, and bingo, youre in business. Well Jonathan it has been very nice to lend a helping hand on this matter. Hopefully when I set it up I will be be able to lend a hand myself. I've been playing around with PCs since 1994, and learnt the hard way why I should try to find solutions for any problems that I might get. In 1996 I asked my late nephew to transfer my operating system to a new hard disk. This he didn't do as he wiped clean my old hardisk which contained some very important information. From that day on I strived to learn more on computers, and today I can solve windows based pc problems, hopefully hoping to do the same with linux.. If you have any problems with windows based systems please do not hesitate to ask. Only yesterday I went to see a relative's pc which was 'dragging its feet'. The problem, too many temp internet files. Just downloaded a program called CCleaner, and found over 162Mb of useless files! Then there was the WGA problem, easy to work around if you can play around with REGEDIT. It is getting past my bedtime, so I have to say goodnight!
