A nice alternative to a KVM switch if you have multiple pcs and want to share one keyboard and mouse is Synergy : http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/
However, it cannot share screens. It is cross platform though, and can be used to share keyboard, mouse and clipboard between multiple computers. I've used it between Vista and Windows Server 2003, and it worked ok, except for a slight slowness in the mouse. Give it a go!
