I would also check the windows firewall. By default that tends to block the traffic for samba. Also binding isnt necessary as long as the computers are on the same ip subnet. I have a feeling the ip subnet being used is different to that of the wired network. On your router you could assign a static ip via dhcp and bind that ip address to that pc using the mac address that way other devices cant use it and you can keep everything on a single subnet.
