Hi all,

If you have both the wifi adapter and the wired nic with an IP on the
same network segment, you could run into problems with packets coming
in on one NIC and being replied to on another card. I highly recommend
you make sure that you are using either one or the other.

But before, a quick diagnostic to check that all is in order on the
same machine. Check what interface the SMB service is listening on.
The broadest configuration should be 0.0.0.0:139 (there are other
ports CIFS uses but lets not digress). If you see that its listening
only to one interface, then you probably already found your culprit.
Next up, try and connect to the SMB service using the smbclient on the
same machine i.e. localhost. 'man smbclient' will give you the options
on how to connect to the service depending on the username/password,
guest etc settings you placed on your share. If that is ok, connect
using ONLY your wifi. Make sure that you only have one IP up on the
same machine with the route -n command. If you see two interfaces on
the same subnet, you are into problems. If all is ok, restart the SMB
service to make sure that it binds correctly.

Also:
* check you don't have a firewall up on your machine blocking the ports.
* perform an nmap on known ports like 139 and or other services not
related to SMB to check that your problem is not elsewhere

Some dumps of the output of the commands might help us should you
still be having problems. Maybe we spot something that you missed or
someone gets a better idea .... after all its a community
