I am pretty sure I had this problem and I had a conversation on MSN
with Jeremy about it.  I don't exactly remember how I fixed it but I
think I had just to be really patient..

If it's what I think it is, it's a "network" issue with Ubuntu/Kubunty
trying to fetch something while not being able to and the timeout is
way too long.  Again, it's been a while since i had this problem so I
may be a little off.

I would suggest to install it and just wait like, 30 minutes and see if
it ever starts.  Else, you can try installing it with your network
cable NOT connected and your WiFi disabled(I think that is what solved
the problem for me as this should prevent the installer from trying to
connect to something and timing out years later)
