It's just a TV antenna. The Over the Air (OTA) signals are the same as analog one (though tend to be UHF, rather than VHF). I use a normal TV antenna (rabbit ears) with a built in amplifier, and connect it via a splitter to a pchdtv5500 and my (HD) tv. (http://www.pchdtv.com/ - linux preferred!) There is NO physical difference between an antenna for Digital vs. analog signal.
Works fine. I get all the American networks: Fox, ABC, NBC, CBS, PBSx2. Each channel on OTA has sub-channels. NBC I think only has a primary and a secondary, but PBS, has 3 or 4 secondary channels. The secondarys are SD instead of HD, and show different programming. so I have a total of oh... 18-20 channels. But... Nothing Canadian. The Canadian networks are still fighting with the cable companies and refusing to transmit HD. So that stuff is all analog. Real pain. I have Videotron HD as well, and the signals seem cleaner/crisper on OTA. I suspect videotron does some additional compression/transcoding along the way. Oh, and the OTA signal is always a few seconds ahead of the cable. On Thu, Nov 19, 2009 at 6:14 PM, Jean-Francois Theroux <[email protected]>wrote: > Some of my coworkers have such an antenna. But with such a provider, you get a lot more channels.
