Yes, iPhone's can be jail-broken... which says that you are in a hostile 
environment where they ARE actively "out to get you".  iPhone apps are written 
by 3rd parties but Apple controls what you are allowed to get and gets their 
hands in on the money at all times.  You get what they say you get is the 
general conclusion.  Author writes a great VoIP app for the iPhone and well... 
we know how well that turned out.  The words "collusion" and "anti-competitive" 
comes to mind.
