Hej hej,
Just another interesting side note. This facilitates the remote management of VirtualBox for those of you who are afraid of CLI or need to tinker a remote instance of virtual box

I always prefer FOSS over proprietary but now my serious doubts and
question: is Oracle VirtualBox a good way to go for a long run???

I see 2 possibilities:
- Oracle tries to make those products non-Free, in which case you're no
 worse than with VMware anyway.
- Oracle kills the product altogether, in which case someone will
inevitably pick up the last Free version and provide support for it,
since there are many interested users.

So, you're actually safer in this respect with Free software than with
proprietary products (who may also make any kind of decision you don't
like).
