Ok, when I get home this evening (I cleaned the cache but not the cookies. Cookies are our friends, eh?). Thanks to Leslie and all who kindly contributed to a possible solution.
I also suspect Google for changing their system and/or OS requirements. Before, a warning message would appear in Gmail that "your browser doesn't allow all features to work" etc. Why do I say this? Their spastic focus on products has made the quality drop. Bugs are cropping up everywhere. Chrome, Google Reader, Gmail even Search. They iterate things so quickly that bugs are fixed on the next release. Thus everything feels like a perpetual Beta. Nothing is ever finished. To be honest, After being with Gmail for what seems like nearly 10 years I am beginning to research moving my business to another provider. Hotmail, Yahoo, or even self hosting something with a Go-Daddy Account. I just dont approve of Google's approach to software and service development. While I like new features every 6 weeks, I want new features that are bug free, and dont break something else every 6 weeks. I really believe Google is on the path of Microsoft irrelevance.."
