I personally am going to wait to see before judging. Canonical provides
a great deal of service to the community it would be nice to see Ubuntu
actually be self sustaining instead of dependant on Canonical's and the
community's largess.
Red Hat has staked out the survive by selling support method of funding
and this works best in server space anyway. The Linux Desktop benefits
greatly from Ubuntu. I think the community should be supportive when
they explore alternative funding methods. If it interferes with
functioning of the system like ad-ware does on Windows systems then we
should raise our voices. If on the other hand we can help Linux by
giving Ubuntu a cut of what we were going to buy anyway well sign me up.
