Hi,

Forgive me, I imagine for some of you my questions may be rudimentary.
I hope it is not intrusive of me to look for some answers here.

I study translation and interpretation and I am very interested in the
potential of Mnemosyne but I haven't been able to take full advantage
of it thus far.

I have been slowly compiling cards in a number of subcategories, all
within one single deck, as recommended on the website. The vast
majority of these are vocabulary-related, but some have nothing to do
with language.

At this stage I have 700 cards, 600 of which I do not have memorized
yet.

At the pace that the program provides, It appears to me I will never
work my way through these existing cards, much less the new
information I periodically add to the deck.

I changed the number of new cards to memorized each day to 10, and
then later to 20, but these changes don't appear to be reflected in
what the program shows me when I re-boot it (i.e. "planned" cards).

When I initially began using the program I was very disciplined and
used it every day. But lately my lack of progress in moving through
the deck has lowered my motivation. The new vocabulary and other
information I add to the deck seems to sink into a black hole that I
will never see again.

I have attempted to keep going and work on a few dozen cards after
finishing off all of the "planned" cards, but I read on the site that
trying to memorize large number of cards all at once is not
recommended.

What should I be doing differently? Are my expectations too high?
Ideally I would like to use mnemosyne to work on memorizing thousands
of cards, not hundreds - but how to get there from here?

Thank you very much for any help,

Ch.
