I'm running Mnemosyne under Linpus Linux on an Acer Aspire One. After initially installing successfully, and downloading some cards (Chinese) I've used before under Windows, now the program consistently gives the message: Unable to load database. Creating tmp file. I accepted this, reloaded the cards, but next time it failed to find the new __TMP__.mem file previously createdn and started again.
In fact it also creates a new default.mem file as well (checked by renaming the old one and then discovering there's a new one after I restart Mnemosyne, and in the .mnemosyne/log/txt file: 2009-02-14 14:55:53 : Program started : Mnemosyne 1.2 posix linux2 2009-02-14 14:55:56 : New database 2009-02-14 14:56:43 : Saved database 0 0 0 2009-02-14 14:56:43 : Program stopped ). There were several default.mem files in: .home/user/.mnemosyne .home/ user .mnt/home/.mnemosyne .mnt/home and in /root/.mnemosyne I tried to get Mnemosyne to open the /root/.mnemosyne folder to access the default.mem there (created the day I installed the program) but cannot get it to do this. Mnemosyne is (apparently) installed in: ./home/user/Desktop/mnemosyne-1.2-r1/mnemosyne-1.2/ and (or these are the same?) ./mnt/home/Desktop/mnemosyne-1.2-r1/mnemosyne-1.2/ (I did not notice this problem until after I had created desktop icon links editing home/user/...group-app.xml to add Mnemosyne to a group, but cannot think this would have caused a problem . The problem remained when I rem'd out the icon.) Any thoughts? Thanks.
