I definitely agree with Peter when he says "I'd prefer this more gentle approach as opposed to a hard limit where you forbid people to go on". I left 5 'zero grade' cards in hand.
I really don't know how long will it take to achieve a very low review rate (which is very desirable), however I've been using mnemosyne about a 1.5 year and I try really hard to review the cards every single day, weekends, holidays, christmas, whatever... In my 'pov', we'll collect the bonus of studying thru SRS in the long term.
