I am currently memorising the capitals and countries of the worlds and
using Mnemosyne to test my recall. The capital cities you mentioned
are hard to visualise so what I did was convert the capitals and
country names into strong similar words with strong images then create
a vivid assocation.

For example,
Yamoussoukro is a YAM and a MOUSSAKA
this is the capital of the Ivory Coast. Create an image, say of
a Large IVORY elephant tusk jabbing into a YAM, then hurling
the yam into a large dish of Moussaka.

Tegucigalpa is a cup of TEA being sipped by Mr GUCCI the designer
who is GULPing down his tea. This is the capital of a Honduras,
so I imagined GUCCI driving a Honda Accord car, sipping the tea and gulping
loudly.

Ougadougou (OOGA-DOOGA sounds like a dance!) is the capital of Burkina Farso
which sounds like BIKINI FATSO. Create a strong association to help
you remember.

I hope this helps.
