Thanks Charles, that was the first step!

I renamed the file from .txt to .py (maybe it should be in .py in the
first place for noobs like me?) and now at least the command window
seems to pop up very briefly when I view the flashcard, so something
is happening. However still no vlc, no mp3 being played and no error
logged...

I'm probably doing some other elementary mistake but I can't work out
what...
