Thanks for the help Peter, I tried it with windows media player and the program did start, but wmp claimed it couldn't play the file?! I tried again with media player classic and hooray, it seems to work!!
Only problems now are that you have to close media player classic in order to carry on using mnemosyne, so when all your flashcards are doing this, you waste a lot of time starting and stopping programs. Also if you get the answer wrong and it immediately repeats, it won't run the plugin again. You have to go through another flashcard first. Of course I realise this is just a plugin and is not fixable/a priority but it leaves me with a little dilemma: I have a lot of vocabulary mp3s that don't seem to work with mnemosyne's in built mp3 support. I have two choices: 1. Wait for 2.0 to come out and hope the mp3s are playable. Pros: creating and using flashcards will be much easier and smoother. Cons: waiting, will mp3s be playable? 2. Fiddle about with the plugin and mpc. Pros: I can start learning now. Cons: It's fiddly and takes time to create cards and to use them. In the future I will have to go through all the flashcards and change them in order to use in built audio in 2.0. So I guess you can see where I'm going with this... is there an eta on a alpha/beta 2.0 with new mp3 support?!!
