Hi Ericka, do you think you could be a little more precise when explaining the steps you take, otherwise it's quite difficult to pinpoint what's going wrong even if it's only a very simple problem.
Assuming you extracted the wordlists folder from the wordlists.zip archive and have that on your desktop, when you open that folder (not in mnemosyne, but in your normal folder browser) is it empty? You should see a bunch of .txt files (this is what you need to import). If you can see the .txt files then maybe the problem is you haven't set the drop down File Format option to "Text with tab seperated Q/ A" (see point 3. in previous message). If for example the file format is set to .xml files, by default mnemosyne looks for .xml files and won't show .txt files.
