I had the same challenge. For me the solution was to:
1) Paste  picture into MS-Powerpoint
2) Size up to make work easy
3) Cover up with numbered boxes that which I wanted to learn
4) Size down to Mnemosyne-friendly size
5) Screenshot the part I want with a snipper-tool ( I use SnagIt)
6) Save in desired format
(my attached example is learning the local geography of seas etc around 
Istanbul. 14k)
