My primary motivation is to ensure we have a scalable system for 'banner / promo' space on the homescreen. This is at minimum image+text+clickable link.
Adding support for richer content is fabulous, but will that add more time to engineering this? If so, you know what I will say - add that at a later stage so we can at least get a scalable way for managing this space (for our use and potential partner use). (I'd love to see clickable widget functionality in there in the future - I think we could see some really creative development as a result!) -----Original Message----- From: mobile-firefox-dev [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Wesley Johnston Sent: August 19, 2013 3:26 PM To: Richard Newman Cc: Margaret Leibovic; Deb Richardson; mobile-firefox-dev Subject: Re: New project page ready for review: Dynamic snippets add-on > When I proposed splitting out this work, my motivation was to allow for partners (and ourselves) to do things that are more useful than just image+text+link (which was > the original scope of dynamic snippets). To be fair, I never thought this argument was entirely sound. Even if we went with the very very very VERY basic image+text+link, that IS exactly what the marketplace promo was (we could even very easily allow that link to be an intent). But I haven't heard anyone suggest here that we disallow running some privileged JS on click. i.e. we're already way way way past the realm of basic basic basic snippets. But I'm having trouble figuring out what we're arguing about in here. Is it what we can draw in the box? Or what that can do? _______________________________________________ mobile-firefox-dev mailing list [email protected] https://mail.mozilla.org/listinfo/mobile-firefox-dev _______________________________________________ mobile-firefox-dev mailing list [email protected] https://mail.mozilla.org/listinfo/mobile-firefox-dev
