I'd recommend you just jump in with Gesture, really... there's no reason to learn Unity at this point unless you really want a history lesson. ;)
As for CB over MG, they're very similar in many ways and in others it's not possible for them to me more different... the main similarity is their dependence on CFCs and OO foundations to build maintainable and performant apps. Either one is a good choice, but my main, very real, most hear-felt recommendation is that you build a very simple (even a Hello World-style) app in each, then make your own pick. Learn them both, then learn M2 and Fusebox too! ;) I'm very much a multiplatformist, and the more you learn the more you know what you need to learn next...
