Hi All, This has certainly turned into an interesting discussion. An update on my current situation - I did the JRE update on my CF8 install. I couldn't immediately see a lot of difference, however switching off the Report Execution Times (and all debugging) while restarting has made a massive improvement.
With regards to my live environment, we had installed FusionReactor a couple of weeks ago and I suspect this has contributed to the problem. Disabling this has seemed to make an improvement. Similarly I was interested to see the posts about the Server Monitor as well. Has anyone else had any similar experiences with FusionReactor? Finally I also had 3 MG apps which were using a shared parent bean factory. I found this wasn't necessary for one of them, so reverted back to giving its directory it's own Application.cfm, and took out the parent bean factory from index.cfm. The parent one was using transfer, but this one wasn't and this has sped up that particular app's start-up time markedly. So I can't point to one thing that's done the job, but using a few of the suggestions here things are definitely running a lot better now. Many thanks again to all who offered some ideas. I'll keep the group posted if I find anything else that might be useful.
