i doth protest any level of crappiness asserted to nirvana. And as far as
modest mouse losing any greatness due to epic records.... i find this
absurd. i have total faith in modest mouse's integrity as artists/musicians
and i dont think they would have signed to any label where they wouldnt be
in control over their art. this maybe a naive viewpoint but i beleive it to
be valid and true. The japanese ep does sound cleaner and more mature but
this has nothing to do with being signed to a major label. bands just
evolve. i particularly like the new stuff just as much as their older stuff.
Besides, even if epic has any control over their sound, in 2 years when
modest mouse are big rock stars and are playing the mtv music awards and are
on the cover of rolling stone they will then have even more power to make
any sort of sounding record they want. but then again...we dont want that...
