Your first mistake is not having hardwood floors in your flat.....but
otherwise, yes. "Don't Hold Back" does have a much grittier and persussion
friendly sound than the flip side, "I Can't Take It Anymore", which is more
upbeat with strings and such. Personally, I like both, but figured "I
Can't Take It Anymore" would be the preferred track to northern soul fans.
But then again, I've never made any pretentions about knowing the world of
northern soul as well as others. I'm far more knowledgable about
paraddidles (but not clarinet solos).

BTW, some will be interested to know that the Erma Franklin album "Soul
Sister" on Brunswick has surfaced twice in Atlanta recently. There was a
sealed copy which sold for $50 and a beat to hell copy that I saw at a
record show on Saturday priced (but not sold) at $45. This is the album
that has her brilliant version of "Light My Fire" as heard on Kent's "Even
Mo' Mod Jazz".

...and in other news, does anyone know an Adrian Johnson in North London
(maybe you Walthamstow residents can chime in here :^) ?
