Greetings Fellow Mods,
I'm Damon (from Philadelphia) and I'm new to the
modslist as of today (Nov.1). I've been a mod for
about 13 years now. Since mod is a state of mind (and
dress and music), I'm not afraid to consider myself
mod at age 29.
Question: Does anyone know a good tailor on the east
coast (Philly, Baltimore, NYC, Boston) who can taylor
a suit in proper mid-60s mod fashion?
I had a suit done here in Philadelphia in '97 and the
tailor pretty much laughed at my request. Are there
any tailors who get it?
Also, has anyone heard of the Jamaican band The
Mohawks? In the late '60s, they did an organ
instrumental called "The Champ" which has been sampled
by scores of hip-hop artists. They're a brilliant band
whose organist plays with the skill of Jimmies Smith
and McGriff, Booker T. Jones and Ian McLagan. He's
amazing. They have a bunch of other burnin' Hammond
organ instrumentals out there but I have no idea how
to obtain this stuff in the U.S. Does anybody know
where you can find their stuff in the U.S.?
Damon
