"anyone see Beck on the gawd-awful VH1 fasion awards last night? I've been
reading good reviews of his new album, but I was thoroughly unconvinced by
this performance. It wasn't so much the music, that ugly hairdo, his
unusually forced dance moves (which are generallythe highlight of his
performances), or dreadful attire that put me off, but the fact that he
sings with such an un-natural falsetto that I found annoying.
It's one thing to respect singers like Curtis Mayfield, Russell Thompkins
Jr. and Prince, but to emulate them without the skills to backit up just
sounds terrible! For what it's worth, the audience did seem confused at
least."

I worked on the "gawdawful" VH1 Fashion Awards and i must
say that i disagree--i give Beck credit for performing
that song-it was bold of him to go out on a limb--it would
have been much easier for him to play the new single or
one of his hits.
As for his voice, it was a bit rough around the edges, but
since when does falsetto sound natural? that's the nature
of falsetto--hence its name. (although he was much better
in rehearsal)
...and from the mods point of view, i REALLY feel for him,
seeing as how the garment bag with his suit in it got lost
right before the show, so he was pissed about that--
something i know we ALL could feel for.
(Dont ask me why im sticking up for him, im not really
even a fan of his..perhaps because the past 3 months of
my life have revolved around this show, day and night)

but as for what you said about the audience seeming a bit
confused, you are definitely right.
