As far as places to buy shoes, I always start with department stores. I
adored the Eaton's block long wall of women's shoes in Winnepeg!! And in
general, you'll find the same shoes whether you go to Daytons or Nordstrom,
so it really doesnt matter which store you go to.

I wear a size 5 US in womens, so anytime I find a shoe that fits and is all
right looking, I buy it! One of my favorite brands is Unlisted. Quite a
few of their shoes are hideous (clogs, platforms, nasty chunky heels, etc),
but they are cheap (< $50) and they have some gems. I, too, love mary janes
and have a great comfy pair from Unlisted. They've got the smallest bit of
chunk to them, but not enough to be annoysing. I can't remember the model
name, but I know that they still make them (I want to say that they're
called Allison or something like that).

I also like Esprit (http://www.esprit.com), Enzo, Etienne Aigner
(http://www.etienneaigner.com/) and (if you've got the cash they are so well
worth it!) John Fluevogs (http://www.fluevog.com).

I have to agree wholeheartedly here...It's the worst
feeling when you spy a pair of perfect shoes from
afar, only to see that god-awful space sole once you
get up close. In terms of brand name shoes, I have
found that Enzo has a great selection of very 60's
looking shoes with regular ole soles. I did recently
find a very nice pair of women's Clark's desert boots
with a raised sole that I liked quite a bit. The
men's style is way too flat and wide for me, but these
had just a bit of a heel that made them very
attractive. How about some of the other gals on the
list? What are your favorite brands, which styles do
you like???
