Agreed, but after you've been "on the scene" for a few
years, you realize that there are a lot of good people
around. I've had the distinct pleasure of meeting more
than a handful of the folks on this very mailing list
(although I'd be hard-pressed to count, as I've often
been drunk at those times) and can tell you that the
people that stick around for a while are generally
worth knowing.

Not to say that you should stick to your kind, the
world's a big place, after all, and even Backstreet
Boys fans can be fascinating people once you get to
know them. But nothing quite beats somebody that you
connect with and can also relate to on the subcultural
level.
