All I was trying to say was that this whole thing (the old 'is you're so
mod why ain't you modern' thing) is a bit daft because back then there
were other terms - i.e. stylist - that were used by the kids, and that
if Weller had decided he was leading a Stylist revival from the start,
rather than half way through, that's probably the word we'd be using
today - and then there wouldn't be that confusion.
I agree completely about the origins of the word - that much is fact.
It's just whether the connection is that relevant - i.e. people here are
generally inspired by 60s Mods, even the jazz fans or the forward
looking modernist casual brigade - not 50s Modernists.
