This may be kind've a stretch, but I think that growing up near Philly had a
big effect on me as a bass player. I got exposed to Jimmy Smith's feet at a
much earlier age than a lot of young musicians would. I picked up an awful
lot from his bass lines. Of course, there was an awful lot of good Philly
soul happening around the house, too. I live in Boston now, and I play in a
rock band (essentially), but my bass playing still reflects the soul I grew
up with. Also, I've had the "wooder" in Norristown.
