I don't know anything about this problem, but this hint may help: I heard
that the SGI cc compiler is useing some "workarounds" to avoid some
hardware bugs. For instance it's impossible to compile squid, a
proxy-server, with gcc. We tried native cc compiler, and it run. You may
have the same problem.
Of course the builders of gcc cannot know about the "tricks" the native
compiler uses, since SGI doesn't support it or even documentate bug of
course...
